There are many events coming up for the KCCNYC community in May, because May is AAPI Month. We hope you can join us for upcoming events to celebrate Korean culture and heritage with KCCNYC!

 

New York Yankees Korean Heritage Day

New York Yankees Korean Heritage Day | Saturday, May 2, 1:35pm

Join us May 2nd at 1:35 for Korean Hat Day at Yankee Stadium. With every ticket purchase, there will be a donation made towards the Korean American Legal Educational Fund of Greater New York (KALEFGNY) and you will also receive a commemorative NY Yankees Korean Hat (while supplies last)! KCCNYC was thrilled to have this event as part of the silent auction for our Gala.

The game will be the Baltimore Orioles vs. the New York Yankees, so it’s sure to be a fun game! We hope to see you there. We plan to have mini baseball-in-Korean study material at the game!


 

Book Launch Party for Yuna Choe and the Perfect Bowl of Rice

With a publication date of May 5, 2026 by A Colorful Collection, Yuna Choe and the Perfect Bowl of Rice is a heartwarming story about a young girl who learns that life isn’t about perfection, but about trying. When Yuna accidentally burns a pot of rice, she transforms her mistake into nurungji, a traditional Korean crispy rice snack—discovering that even mistakes can be meaningful and worth celebrating.

The book launch party will be on May 9 and KCCNYC is co-hosting this event

Join us for a one-of-a-kind culinary experience celebrating the fermentation traditions of Jewish and Korean cuisine. Enjoy a lively conversation, food demos, tastings, and a hands-on pickle project with Jeffrey Yoskowitz, a pioneer in the Jewish food revival; Madalyn Warren, proprietor of Kimchi Harvest; and Gabriella Gershenson, a James Beard Award-winning food writer.

Camp Naru is Recruiting!

Camp Naru is an overnight summer camp held each year in the second week of August, where Korean-American youth explore their heritage, build community, and grow into confident leaders. Camp Naru brings together about 350 campers and staff, creating a supportive and fun environment. Through cultural workshops, outdoor activities, evening programs, and shared meals, campers and staff deepen their pride in their identity and form lifelong friendships. Staff brings Camp Naru to life, building a community where every camper feels welcome and valued.

KCCNYC’s Own Nicolette Shin in Jesus Chris Superstar

Nicolette Shin will be starring in Jesus Christ Superstar as King Herod!

Our beloved community member and student Nicolette will be starring in Musical Jesus Christ Super Star as King Herod. We are so happy for her, and we want to support her!
