Lunar New Year is only a couple of weeks away, and Koreans always take their last chances to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I always thought that it is a great thing that we get to say happy new year to everyone for a little longer.
If January 2026 was a bit chaotic and confusing for you, just remember that Korean Lunar New Year, 설날 (Seollal), has not happened yet! Korea, along with its neighbor China, gets to claim that the true start to 2026 has not begun, and we can start over.
I hope you can all join us in the festivities of the new year at our first ever gala on February 19. KCCNYC has always been a small but hardworking team with generous community members who always support us and our vision. Thank you. 감사합니다.
Our community members are working diligently to welcome KCCNYC members to the Gala, and we are excited and thrilled to have a wonderful and incredible night with you.
We will have an art gallery, live jazz performance, K-pop dance, and singing performances by our community members. DJ KARLLLL will also create a dance floor for us with rhythmic music. I sincerely hope this event can be a moment of joy for everyone. We will have food and drinks provided to us by our sponsors.
The silent auction and art auction will add excitement to the night. I am looking forward to meeting all the artists at the Gala and seeing their work.
I want to take this chance to thank our event sponsors who made this Gala possible. We will dedicate a page of our newsletter this month to our sponsors. KCCNYC looks forward to having more journeys with our sponsors in the future.
KCCNYC is grateful beyond words for all the collaborative work that is going into making this event possible. We are so happy to have new supporters and friends in the community. Friendships are our strength, and love wins over hate.
I look forward to 2026 as KCCNYC will continue to grow. We will put our efforts into community building and expanding our support for the community. We are planning for many gatherings this year, including Yankee’s Korean Heritage Night, and art gallery visits. Please read our community news to learn more about upcoming events after the Gala. Our monthly book club will be reading We Do Not Part by Han Kang at the end of March, in honor of Jeju 4.3 Uprising.
