KCCNYC x NY Mets Korean Heritage Day
On August 15, 2026, the KCCNYC community came together from all over the States to watch the Korean Heritage Day game at Citi Field! It was super fun to meet everyone in person! People came from New Jersey, Delaware, and South Carolina to join forces for the Mets! We were also joined by members of YKA New York, and we were very delighted to watch the game with them.
The baseball jerseys designed by the Mets were really cute and meaningful, especially because the game was held on Independence Day. We also got K-pop Demon Hunter themed jerseys as we entered the game!
The game was filled with Korean themed performances and the stadium also was very thoughtfully decorated with Korean decorations. The stadium constantly played K-pop songs from recent times, but I realized that old K-pop songs were also played. Of course, Kevin Wu’s performance also added fun to the whole game. I was very grateful that the Mets were very considerate of the day to respect and celebrate Korean culture.
In addition, the game was a nail biter. The Mets were leading the game in the beginning, but the Washington Nationals eventually took the lead. However, the Mets were able to reclaim victory with a ninth inning 5-4 walk-off victory. It was my first time watching such a nailbiter game live!
I really enjoyed watching the game with KCCNYC’s family and friends. I thought it was really nice that some of the ARMY students ARMYs were giving out freebies from the BTS concert! We had a lot of fun and giggled throughout the game, and I really appreciated that many students showed up to meet us in person! I hope our community continues to come together for our upcoming in-person events!

We want to have a little Chuseok dinner and drink gathering with our community for an After Class Event. We will be watching a K-Drama together to celebrate K-Drama Day! The streaming service Viki is collaborating with us for the event. We want you to have a relaxing time, and some fun with all of us! The specific K-Drama to be announced soon. A hybrid option will be available for those who want to Zoom in to solve K-Drama puzzles with us!
*We also plan to have a mini pre-meeting for our Korea Fest Volunteers for the October 3rd street festival.

On October 3, 2026, KCCNYC will host a booth at Korea Fest to celebrate Chuseok with NYC. We hope to see everyone there to play Korean Traditional games with us and to learn more about our programs and opportunities! We had such a fabulous time with everyone last year, and we look forward to meeting everyone this year. We need volunteers to help with the event, please sign up here!
