The first meeting of Dosan Hakdang: KCCNYC Monthly Book Club
As previously announced, KCCNYC’s monthly book club, Dosan Hakdang, will kick off on May 18, 2025 at 2PM. This month we are reading the Nobel Prize winning novel Human Acts. You can still RSVP HERE to join the May 18 meeting!

We are happy to announce that for June’s book club meeting, a very special guest, Bora Chung, the writer of Cursed Bunny and Your Utopia will visit our book club. We will read Your Utopia this month & will meet on June 5th at 7:30 PM EST to accommodate the Korean Time Zone. RSVP for the June Meeting HERE
Your Utopia is a collection of short stories by Chung. The book includes a special story, “To Meet Her,” which is a tribute to Korea’s first openly transgender soldier who took her own life. We will celebrate Pride Month with the community in the Book Club.
KCCNYC ‘After Class’ - May 9
Join us for our first KCCNYC AFTER CLASS event on FRIDAY MAY 9 at 8pm to support KCCNYC Community Member DJ KARLLLL for a night of socializing and dancing at the Lobby of the ACE HOTEL in Manhattan. LiNK UP NYC on May 21
Please join KCCNYC students & community members at a young professionals happy hour in support of Liberty in North Korea (LiNK), a nonprofit that helps North Korean refugees escape, resettle, and rebuild their lives, on May 21st (Wed) from 6:30-9pm at Aunt Bernie’s (513 3rd Ave) where folks can meet other young professionals and learn a bit about LiNK’s work and mission. LiNK has rescued over 1,300 North Korean refugees to date, with 5 rescues made thus far in 2025.
The first 20 drinks are free and there is a chance to enter into a $200 value raffle for a trendy new Korean restaurant in the city! Please feel free to indicate via the RSVP link if you can’t make it but want to hear about future events.

KCCNYC South Korea Wildfire Recovery Fund Wraps Up With $8200 Raised!
KCCNYC’s fundraiser for the Gyeongbuk Wildfire Recovery Fund wrapped up on April 30th. KCCNYC sent the entirety of the donated fund to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association in Korea on May 2, 2025. The total donation for the fundraiser amount was $8,200, and KCCNYC wants to relay our deepest gratitude for all the contributions and generosity that our community has shown us. We will keep you updated with the communications that we get from Hope Bridge in the following weeks.
We want to thank everyone who has helped us to be so successful in our fundraising effort. We also thank the organizations that help us extend our outreach.
